Captain's Summary - Easter 2008

The May Bumps 2008 has been PBC's most successful in recent years. Both 2nd VIIIs performed well with the men winning their oars and the women rising three places. The 1st VIIIs also held their own with the men bumping up one place, reversing the recent downard trend, and the women holding their position at the head of division two. Strong lower boats and competitive 1st VIIIs are exactly what we aim to achieve through both squads' training programmes so the Club can be rightly proud of every boat's performance in the Mays.

This term also saw the launch of the 1st men's new shell - Wilson of Tillyorn. The shell was purchased thanks to the generosity of those supporting the PBCF's "Spirit of '56" campaign and has become a much valued addition to the fleet. The new shell was named by Lady Wilson for the outgoing Master, Lord Wilson of Tillyorn, the day after the Club presented the Wilsons with a "trophy oar" commemorating their support of the Boat Club during their time at Peterhouse.

Full details of this term's racing are described by those organising each crew in their reports (links above) but on behalf of the whole Club I'd like to thank all those who have supported us this year, whether on the towpath, through time spent coaching or financially via the PBCF.
